This morning, Pope Benedict XVI sent out his first message on Twitter to over a million followers:
Dear friends, I am pleased to get in touch with you through Twitter. Thank you for your generous response. I bless all of you from my heart.
— Benedict XVI (@Pontifex) December 12, 2012
Even though it’s a pretty safe bet that future tweets from @Pontifex won’t be coming directly from the Pope (but rather from a member of his team), the Pope’s new venture into technology should be a shining example to Catholics (and parishes) everywhere to embrace technology for the sake of the New Evangelization!

It’ll be interesting to see how the Pope embraces the Twitterverse. And I hope he takes at least some of Brandon Vogt’s advice.
